UK’s home entertainment market up 10% in 2018

Often the big challenge in a Home Entertainment market – especially one with as many high profile releases as 2018 – is making a connection with audiences that motivates them to choose one title over the others.  It can be daunting to launch in such a competitive release window with titles such a Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: Episode VIII forcing a campaign to work even harder to connect with its audience.

In 2018, The Greatest Showman dominated the physical and digital Home Ent market with a total of £2.69m copies sold, more than double the sales of the #2 release, contributing to the growth of the UK Home Ent market by 10% and a cumulative value of £2.34bn.
We’re extremely proud here at Create to work alongside the Fox Home Entertainment team and celebrate these wins.  With streaming sites on the rise and the traditional retailers being shaken up, it can be easy to think pessimistically about the Home Entertainment market. However, as the 2018 results show, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic.
